Marky Nolen stabbed during altercation

A Seward basketball player was stabbed around 2 a.m. April 11 during a fight at Love’s County Store, 188 W. Pancake. When officers arrived, the group of men involved began to scatter.

Marky Nolen, a 20-year-old Saints basketball player, approached an officer saying he was stabbed. While the officer was attempting to secure the area, Nolen left the scene and was transported to Southwest Medical Center by a private vehicle. He was treated for a single stab wound to the abdomen. His condition is stable.

This incident is still under investigation.

Security Report March 22 - March 30

On 3/22/10, the SCCC/ATS Security Department and the Liberal Police Department were able to determine the identities of four suspects who were responsible in the attempted theft of a vehicle from the rear lot of the Area Technical School, 2215 N. Kansas Ave., that stemmed back to last January 11th of this year.  The suspects were from Garden City, Kansas and Dodge City, Kansas and they are all currently being incarcerated on charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault after they reportedly kidnapped a paraplegic Liberal resident at gun point in the 400 block of South Kansas on that same evening of January 11th.  In reference to the attempted auto theft, the suspects will be charged in Seward County District Court with...

 

Security Report Sept. 28-Oct. 7

Sept. 28 —the SCCC/ATS Security Department filed an incident report in reference to some accidental damage to a window at the concession stand located at the Lady Saints Softball Complex, 1801 N. Kansas Ave.  The damage was caused when a softball was accidentally thrown through a window.  Damages were estimated at approximately $150.

Sept. 29 —the SCCC/ATS Security Department filed an incident report in reference to the possession of alcoholic beverages by minors on the grounds of the Student Living Center, 1801½ N. Kansas Ave.  The beverages were confiscated and the information was forwarded to SCCC Housing Administration for disciplinary review.  The results of the disciplinary review are confidential.

Sept. 22, 2009 — the SCCC/ATS Security Department took a report of a reckless driving complaint at the Area Technical School Campus, 2215 N. Kansas Ave.  The information on the complaint was forwarded SCCC/ATS Administration for disciplinary review.  The results of the disciplinary review are pending.

Sept. 17, 2009 — the SCCC/ATS Security Department filed an incident report involving a minor accidental injury outside of the Student Living Center Mansions, 1801 N. Kansas.  The victim declined any medical treatment but wanted to make certain that a report was filed in reference to the incident.

Aranda court date set after campus arrest

A Seward County student will face a court date in Morton County on Oct. 1 after being arrested by Liberal police at the Mansions on Sept. 4.

Domingo Ray Aranda of Elkhart was arrested for failure to appear, according to a Morton County District Court spokesperson.

Aranda was supposed to go to court on charges of writing a hot check in 2007, but failed to appear.

Aranda also has a felony warrant from Colorado, but is facing trial in Kansas before being considered for extradition to Colorado.

Aranda is being held in Morton County Jail on a $3,000  bond.
