There have been several position changes occurring at Seward
County Community College over the past weeks. Dale Doll, English
instructor, will be the new humanities and social sciences division
chair.
Luke Dowell, Math instructor, will take over the position of
science, mathematics and physical education division chair.
?Former science, mathematics and physical education division
chair Todd Carter will move to the new position of Assessment
and Institutional Research director.
Carters position is new to SCCC. After the Title III grant
runs out at the end of the semester, Carters position
will continue the progress and research that the grant has been
able to provide to the college. Carter has been a part of the
SCCC faculty for the past 14 years.
He currently participates in the National Association of Biology
Teachers and has helped coordinate the Title III grant over
the past 3 years.
Taking over Carters former position will be Dowell. Dowell
is currently a SCCC math instructor.
Yes, I am excited about the career change. I like the
fact that I can take a more of a leadership role in the college
but still teach, said Dowell. The main goal is to
continue to improve what we are doing and plan ahead to keep
us in good shape down the road.
The third division chair promotion was given to Doll. Doll has
worked for the college for 19 years. He has participated in
the AQUIP project, helping students going through developmental
courses.
I am excited about the new opportunity, Doll said.
I believe Ive reached the point in my career that
I?want to be involved more in the decision-making process which
may have a broader effect than what I have done in the past.
John Loucks, current humanities and social science division
chair, assisted in the decision to hire Doll.
It is best in an institution to take leadership from the
ranks. Doll knows whats going on in the division,
Loucks said. Hes a good pick.
All of the position changes are final for the 2008-09
school year.
