Nursing program exceeds averages

The Seward County Community College nursing program recently received notification from the Kansas State Board of Nursing of the licensure results for the 2007 graduates.
The SCCC associate degree nursing program pass rate for first time candidates taking the National Council Licensure Examinatino for the registered nurse was 95.24 percent. The Kansas average pass rate was 81.57 percent, while the national average pass rate was only 78.64 percent.
For the third year in a row, the SCCC practical nursing program pass rate for the first time candidates taking the National Council Licensure Examination for the practical nurse was 100 percent. The Kansas average pass rate was 92.06 percent, and the national pass rate was 84.28 percent.
The SCCC practical nursing program had its first graduating class in 1979. There have been 15 graduating classes with 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-PN exam.
“I am very proud of our graduates and the hard work necessary to achieve these results,” said Steve Hecox, Director of Nursing at SCCC. “Our nursing faculty are very dedicated individuals who strive to provide the best learning experiences possible for the students.”
