Is your glass half full or half empty? Before I met a friend, my glass was always half empty. I felt less than others and not good enough to do something that was challenging.
I could say that I lived a very negative life. About 80 percent of my thoughts were negative, which made me have only negative results. But I would never imagine how positive thinking would change my life.
I had a friend who was always happy, laughing and confident at what he did. No matter what the situation was, he would always find a solution to the problem. Every day he would be the same way. I would never see him sad, stressed or unhappy.
So one day I had the curiosity to ask how he was the way he was. He told me that it was all in the mind. Negative thoughts would only equal negative results, and positive thinking would equal positive results.
It was hard to stay positive at all moments but I slowly tried it and started seeing results. He told me it would be like driving a car. When you’re learning to drive, you have to go over the steps again and again, but after a while it would come naturally.
So, I began to think positive at all moments, even in the worst cases. After some months of practicing my positive thinking, I felt like a totally different person. It really did change my life. It felt like I had another opportunity to start over and to begin a happier stress-free life.
This change couldn't come at a better moment then when you’re a college student. For a moment I really thought that I would not make it in college. Everything seems hard, and it feels like I don't have any time for anything. But with a little change of mind, I realize how anything is possible. You just have to work hard and always be optimistic and positive. I would recommend people to try it and see how it helps. You’re not going to see results right away, but they will slowly come.
If you run out of gas and you’re nine blocks away from home, don’t worry. Nine blocks of running is enough exercise for a week. That's how the art of positive thinking works.
So, remember, it’s all in the mind. Now maybe your glass will be half full.
