Crusader wins back-to-back All-Kansas awards

The Crusader has again been selected as the recipient of the All-Kansas award, the top journalism award for two-year college newspapers in the state. The Crusader won the All-Kansas award in 2013, with the 2014 back-to-back win announced at the Kansas Collegiate Media conference Monday in Wichita.

Thais Baziquetto-Allen is the new assistant volleyball coach for the Lady Saints. She is from Guarulhos, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her being from Brazil is very convenient since there are three women from Brazil on the Lady Saints Volleyball team.

Seward struggled on Friday, April 12, to keep the Trojans off of the bases as they lost their first series to them at 16-5.

Saints struggle in conference

The Seward County Saints go into postseason play this weekend in a do or die situation. They will play a best two out of three series with Neosho on Saturday and Sunday. With two wins, they will advance as one of the top eight teams to the Region VI Championships in Wichita next week, or with two losses, their season will be over.

Lady Saints enter Region VI tourney with winning streak

The Lady Saints softball team has really hit it off this season, winning nine out of 11 games since April 12. Seward will enter the Region VI Tournament with a seven-game winning streak on Saturday in Garden City.

Baseball rebounds after tough losses

The first doubleheader against the Saints rival, Garden City Busters on March 15 ended swiftly as JB Olsen lead the Saints to a win for the key conference doubleheader opener. In the series finale, Seward County takes control and steals the game 6-5, winning the series against Garden 3-1.

Softball Lady Saints beat No. 1 ranked team in country, Butler

Lady Saints softball claimed a quality victory for the program in the bottom of a double header when they defeated Butler, the No. 1 ranked team in the country, by a score of 7-1 on April 3.

Saints season ends on Pratt long shot

In the second round of the Region VI tournament, Seward took on Pratt March 7 at Koch Arena in Wichita. This would be the third meeting between these two teams this season as the teams split the games in the previous meetings. This was a big game as it would determine who would go the regional semifinal game so this is the one that really counted.

All Good Things Must Come to an End: Lady Saints fall to Barton in regionals

The Lady Saints season came to an end earlier than they had hoped with a loss to Barton, 61-56 in the second round of the Region VI playoffs. The Lady Saints ended the season with a great record of 26-6, and won second in the Jayhawk West conference.

Katelyn Craker is a sophomore who plays as a left-handed pitcher for the Lady Saints softball team. She has played more than 50 innings and has more than 50 strikeouts. She was named KJCCC Pitcher of the Week in April of 2013.
