Choir, band pop with spring concerts

The college music department will present its annual Formal and Pops spring concerts April 30 and May 2.
Full-time college students get in free with ID. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased in the humanities office.
The Formal Concert at 7:30 p.m. April 30 in the Showcase Theatre will feature the wind ensemble, Singing Saints concert choir as well as cameo performances. The concert choir will present a variety of Patriotic music, including “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “God Bless the USA,” “Armed Forces Salute,” “Salute to America” and “Inscription of Hope.”
The Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. May 2 in the theatre will feature the Saintly Angels, the Gentleman’s Club and cameo performances by past and present students.
Some of the songs include “Ruby Baby,” “She’s Got a Way,” “How ‘bout Them Cowgirls,” “Memory,” “I’ll Stand By You,” “You Raise Me Up,” “Unchained Melody” and “The Prayer.”
The Formal and Pops concerts will be the last Seward performances directed by vocal instructor Lori Geis, who is resigning from the college.
“I’m really excited for the show, and I’m sad because this will be Lori’s last show,” said choir student Lily Torres.
Vocal music students will include Ben Allen, Jeff Binns, Randy Hawk, Mikayla Knudsen, Jaime Mejia, Sergio Padilla, Jacob Riggs, Melissa Sabillon, Lily Torres, Tuyet Trong, Hillary Anderson, Jared Ratzlaff, Monica Kerbo, Trina Fosdick and Ariana Parral, Logan Green, Kiara Lowery, Rachel McDonald, Derek Bridenstine, Jimmy Ortiz and Victoria Jacob.
Wind Ensemble directed Darin Workman members are Chelsea Ghumm, Diana Askew, Lacy Garcia, Rachel Vangieson, Elisa Labra, Shawn McWhorter, Lydia Augustine, Luis Fuentes, Derek Bridenstine, Okoya James, Tina Fosdick, Shane Wedgeworth and Joseph Harmon.
The band will perform “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Chester,” “Amazing Grace,” “Freedom Forever,” “Within These Hallowed Halls,” “Let Freedom Ring” and “Lincolnshire Posy,” Movements 1 and 6.
