On May 4, Seward County Community Colleges softball team played in the Region VI tournament in Dodge City. The ladies played against Barton and Colby, losing 5-3 to barton and 12-9 to Colby. Seward finished the season  at 14-14 in the Jayhawk West and 18-31 overall.

Sophomore Carlo Izurieta from Guayaquil, Ecuador became interested in tennis between the age of nine and ten. Izurieta enjoys tennis because he likes winning. “I like complicated games and win them. Losing isn’t bad as long as you learn from it.” After Iqurieta finishes up at SCCC, he would like to attend a division one university such as University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Middle Georgia State University or University of Wisconsin.

The Seward County Community College mens basketball team are ranked No. 13 in the nation. The Saints improved to 18-3 in conference play and 25-5 overall. The 25 wins are the team’s most since the 2012-13 season when Seward went 25-8.

Basketball bracket time changes favor financial support

The official and final NJCAA Region VI basketball tournament brackets were released last week for the women’s and men’s teams. According to Seward Sports Information Director Roy Allen the tournament brackets, however, were unexpectedly changed over the weekend without any kind of forewarning.

Saints struggle in conference

The Seward County Saints go into postseason play this weekend in a do or die situation. They will play a best two out of three series with Neosho on Saturday and Sunday. With two wins, they will advance as one of the top eight teams to the Region VI Championships in Wichita next week, or with two losses, their season will be over.

Lady Saints enter Region VI tourney with winning streak

The Lady Saints softball team has really hit it off this season, winning nine out of 11 games since April 12. Seward will enter the Region VI Tournament with a seven-game winning streak on Saturday in Garden City.
