The 2015 season opener for the Saints baseball team was one game that did not turn out the way they hoped. Seward fell to McCook Community College in a close game, 4-3, bringing the first loss of the season.
At its regular meeting Monday night, the board set the addition of a new sports team to the side. Had the board decided to pursue the addition of a new sport, November would be the deadline for beginning the process in time for the next academic year.
The Saints baseball team pitched off to a busy weekend as they played three more fall games. They faced Garden City Community College on Friday, Frank Phillips College on Saturday, and South Moore on Sunday.
The Saints baseball team continued their fall scrimmages with games against Colorado Lightning and Clarendon College this past weekend. Galen McSpadden, head baseball coach, said, “I liked what I saw this weekend. As long as I can see progress, and that was on the mound, and that was defensively, and that was at the plate, so that’s encouraging.”

As the year starts, Seward County baseball is bringing in 16 true freshmen and returning three redshirt freshmen and 12 sophomores, for a total of 31 players who are included on the Fall 2011 roster.
