Lady Saints get revenge on Hutch

The Seward County Community College Lady Saints demolished the Hutchinson Community College Lady Blue Dragons in the first rivalry game of the season on Wednesday, September 5. The Lady Saints had taken a four set win over Hutch by a score of 3-1.

The Lady saints struggled at the beginning, losing the first set by a score of 25-12. In the second set, Seward battled hard and ended up taking the second set, 25-19. In the third set, Seward kept up their momentum and took the set, 25-16 to have an advantage of 2-1.

In the fourth and final set, Seward put the Blue Dragons away and came out with a set victor of 25-14, winning the match 3-1.

Freshman outside hitter, Djuly Schmorantz led the game with 22 kills. Joining Schmorantz in double digit kills were sophomore right-side hitter, Giovanna Tapigliani (16) and sophomore middle hitter, Luz Sierra (12).

The Lady Saints will look to continue their winning streak on Wednesday, September 12 against Dodge City Community College in the Greenhouse, starting at 6:30 p.m.
