Women’s basketball comes from behind

It was an afternoon of shooting for the Lady Saints basketball team. Seward shot 48 percent from the field and came away with the win over Cowley College Jan. 30 in the Greenhouse. The women hit 18 three-pointers in the 93-81 Jayhawk West Conference win.
Cowley led the Lady Saints 24-19 after one quarter and kept the lead going into halftime at 49-43. Coming out of the locker room, the Lady Saints fought back. A three pointer by Zhane Thompson tied the game at 53. Cowley took a narrow 62-61 lead after three quarters. Seward rallied in the fourth to take a 74-72 lead and never trailed again.
The Lady Saints made 18 of 39 three-pointers. Seward was only 3 for 4 at the foul line while Cowley lost some points by only going 7-of-17 from the line. Sydney Wetlaufer scored 21 with 5 of 9 shooting from three-point range. Zhane Thompson had 19. Sierra Morrow scored 17.
Seward improved to 2-0 in conference play and 2-2 overall. Seward plays at Coffeyville Saturday at 2 p.m.
