Medical Billing and Coding students doubting the government’s deadlines

February 5, 2015
I’m a Medical Billing and Coding student. I joined the program that is expected to be done in one year and a half with only 45 credit hours. Due to the government-created mess that is related to ICD-10, three of my coding classes were pushed back to the next semester twice, which means I will be spending two and a half years for what should have been a one and a half year coding program.

Free college raises questions

February 5, 2015
Many of us are seeking to graduate and get a college degree, whether it be an associates, bachelor’s, or master’s. But how great does having free community college sound? Or does it even sound that great to taxpayers at all?

“You’re not making any money, you know?” “You’re going to be broke all the time.” “You could make more money working at National Beef.” Yeah, at this point I’m used to hearing all these things from various people in my life.

‘American Sniper’: Story not history

February 5, 2015
I watched “American Sniper” with my brother, neither of us knowing it was based on a true story. American Sniper is the story of Chris Kyle, the deadliest sniper in the history of the U.S. military, and is played by Bradley Cooper.
A young man known as Olanrewaju Hassan, also called Blaq by some is from Lagos state in the western part of Africa Nigeria precisely. He's in the United States on a F-1 visa (student visa). A driven and motivated young man. He attends Seward County Community College/ Area Technical School. Enrolled during the fall semester of 2013 to study Business Administration, and later changed his major to study Corrosion Technology. He's been in the U.S. for less than two years. He came into the country through O'Hare airport Chicago, and spent three weeks with some family friends in Chicago before moving to Liberal, Seward County, Kansas. Olanrewaju is passionate about life, he loves watching and playing soccer, like traveling and going to new places. Olanrewaju also love smiling, and making people feel good about themselves. He's respectful of people and does not like imposing his opinion on others. In spite of the fact that many sees him as a shy individual, he prefer to see himself as being reserve and avoiding drama. The fear of the unknown is one thing that keeps him motivated and grounded.

I have known Olatunde Olasunkanmi for several years. We lived in the same local government (County) Amuwo Odofin. Olatunde and I were not close friends, but I have always admired him as a person. He has an awesome personality, which is why I respect him a lot.
Are You Valentine Material?

Are You Valentine Material?

Valentine’s Day, a day that your wallet experiences rapid weight loss and it does this without even going to the wellness center. Until money grows on trees, men will always take Valentine ’s Day seriously because the stakes are high.

Philadelphia’s downtown wonders

November 14, 2014
Coming from a small town and flying across the U.S. to Philadelphia, Pa., was like passing through a portal and ending up in a different world. Tumbleweeds, dirt roads, and wind were definitely something I did not run in to as we all do here in Kansas. I knew I was going to such a big and busy city, but I didn’t know what wonder it had for me to see.

Veins for charge

November 14, 2014
Buzz. Ding! Ring! Walking through the halls, sitting at the doctor’s office, eating at a restaurant, these sounds assault our ears everywhere. Look to your left, look to your right, do people even acknowledge you? Are their faces buried in their phones and completely oblivious to the fact that life is happening all around them?

Obama pushes for new path

November 14, 2014
The executive order that President Barack Obama has promised to sign before the end of the year has got opposing sides in a political explosion. And by opposing sides, I mean that it has immigrants in bewilderment of what Obama is going to really do.

Dinner staged for 54

Walking into the Showcase Theater this week, the audience was confused by the chairs on the stage that surrounded the set. As people got over the shock of the unorthodox seating arrangement, a couple of students moved chairs around to be more comfortable, but soon they were informed that the actors would be walking by closely and that would disturb the scenes.

Easier solution to concealed weapon bill

November 8, 2014
Crusader Editor, I read the articles and cartoon regarding the issue of concealed weapons on campus. I've also done some research on the existing concealed carry law, including contacting the Kansas Attorney General’s office for some clarification.

Cultural story and gorgeous visuals brought out in ‘The Book of Life’

October 27, 2014
“The Book of Life” is a stunning visual story deeply immersed in the Mexican holiday of El Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) and is directed by Jorge Gutierrez and produced by Guillermo del Toro. “The Book of Life” delves into the heavy themes of death and the afterlife, but this film does not try to terrify the viewer and is a great film for children.
