Sets bring recognizable scenery, believable locations

Claw marks tear across the ground, fog fills the air and pale white bones litter the stage. The scenes of “The Lion King” musical were unique, but still stayed true to the original film.
Brent Harris tells students of the full-body mechanism he is connected to for the role of “Scar.” He wears a large mask, tail, and many wires and hand controls that together, weigh around 40 pounds.

Darkness is everywhere and everything is silent. Then a dim blue light begins in the horizon that slowly changes to purple.
Actors Brent Harris and Rashada Dawan pose with Seward students after the “Lion King” performance. Harris played “Scar,” who is Mufasa’s brother and Simba’s uncle. Dawan played “Shenzi,” the female hyena, as well as on of the legs of the elephant in the opening song of “Circle of Life.”
