Margarita “Rubi” Gallegos is a freshman majoring in Digital Photography. She was born in Tierra Blanca, Guanajuato, Mexico and has lived in Liberal for 14 years. She graduated from Liberal High School. Her favorite things to do include spending time with family and hanging out with friends.

On Jan. 29, Taste of Kansas was hosted in the SCCC library in order to celebrate Kansas' birthday. There were over 50 dishes varying from over 10 countries.

Most tacos have onion and cilantro to top it off. This plate of tacos was $6.25 along with six salsas and two limes. For the tortillas, instead of putting butter they put lard to make the tortillas softer and lard gives the tortilla a pork taste.

This certain dish is called a “gringa” The type of tortilla to use for this certain dish is a flour tortilla. The “gringa” consists of any type of meat of your choice and mozzarella, lettuce, tomato and avocado.

Lady Saints defeated the Butler Grizzlies on Oct. 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the Greenhouse.

Janeth Vasquez, SCCC's transfer advisor,  hosted the Multicultural Fashion show to showcase  diversity in Liberal. Despite snow keeping some of the participants away, the show featured cultures from Ghana, American Indian, Hispanic and more.

To begin hypnosis and throughout the show, the volunteers were put to sleep after performing a task and before beginning the next segment of the show.

El Grupo de Danza Ballet Folklórico Omawari  de Delicias Chihuahua performs on May 5 in the community center. The women swirl while balancing glasses of water on their heads. Not a single drop was spilled. It’s the second time they have come to Liberal to perform traditional dance as part of Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
